Biography
Dr. Arpit Sharma, PhD, is a Scientist II in the Metabolism & Basic Biology of Aging directive. Dr. Sharma's research focuses on metabolic flexibility and identifying mechanisms through which organelles, cells, and tissues adapt their metabolism and maintain metabolic homeodynamics, especially as organisms age. A central focus of his current work is to understand how lipid metabolism becomes dysregulated with age, and how cell-intrinsic and inter-tissue mechanisms influence systemic metabolic health and aging. He works with a combination of in vivo aging models, animal studies, and cell-based techniques to probe several aspects of metabolic regulation of aging.
Dr. Sharma is a member of the American Aging Association (AGE).
