Current Projects

  • The EMET Lab is one of the 3 sites in the CALERIE study, the first human trial of calorie restriction to examine potential benefits for parameters related to longevity.
  • The EMET lab is studying the accuracy of calorie contents listed in restaurants, to determine whether currently listed values are sufficiently accurate to be a useful contributor to public health measures to facilitate weight control.
  • Emergency Food Product study. The EMET lab recently obtained funding to examine the effects of emergency food products, on long-term body weight. The study relates to our interest in the role of dietary variety in weight regulation, hunger, satiety and food cravings.
  • The EMET lab is conducting an intervention study called the Worksite Healthy Weight for Life project to examine whether worksites are an efficient way to deliver effective weight control interventions to adult population groups.
